Changing The Air Filters In Your Car
Car air filters normally have 2 main types which include the panel style and the radial style. A panel style is typically used in fuel-injected cars while radial style air filters are used for carbureted vehicles. Normally car air filters are enclosed by a plastic casing which is located near the center top of your car’s engine.
The air filter is used to trap dirt particles or debris which may cause damage to the engines walls, cylinders, pistons and piston rings. If you change the filters on a regular basis you can increase the life and performance of your car’s engine. It’s recommended that you change the air filter at least twice a year or after every 15,000 miles. When replacing damaged air filters it has a major impact on your engine which can save you up to $.15 cents per gallon of gasoline.
If you often drive on a dusty or dirt road you may need to change your air filters more often. Make sure to purchase the correct size otherwise you may be causing more damage to your engine than good. The price to change your air filters is relatively inexpensive compared to what the cost will be if you don’t replace them causing permanent damage to your engine.
